Hub Manager

The Hub Manager reports directly to the Festival Producer and Operations and Communications Manager, overseeing the setup, management, and operations of the CIFF Hub. The Hub Manager is an essential public-facing staff member responsible for customer relations in the central Festival meeting space. The Hub Manager acts as a concierge, welcoming and fielding questions from Festival guests and audience, overseeing volunteers, managing retail/merchandise sales and reconciliation during the festival. The Hub has many functions during the festival: transportation center, box office, merchandise sales, guest services, staff work stations; it is imperative that the Hub Manager loves to work collaboratively, has a good sense of humor, and is a flexible and responsive thinker. Candidate must have use of a laptop during the Festival. The Camden International Film Festival runs September 12 – 15, 2019 in Camden, Rockport, and Rockland, ME.

COMPENSATION: $1,000

TIMELINE

  • Week of September 1: 6-8 hours pre-Festival prep
  • September 9: 10 hours, set up and volunteer orientation
  • September 10: 9am-5pm set up
  • September 11: 11:00am-8:00pm (Hub is open to public 12pm-7pm)
  • September 12: 11:00am-10:00pm (Hub is open to public 12pm-9pm)
  • September 13:  8:00am-10:00pm (Hub is open to public 9am-9pm)
  • September 14:  8:00am-10:00pm (Hub is open to public 9am-9pm)
  • September 15:  8:00am-6:00pm (Hub is open to public 9am-5pm)
  • September 16: 10am-2pm to strike the space/systems
  • Final week September: 3-4 hours debrief

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Overseeing setup, management, layout, and operations of the CIFF Hub
  • Responsible for answering Hub telephone line
  • Communication with and schedule the Hub Volunteer Team recruited and assigned by the Volunteer Manager
  • Setup and management of the Hub, including managing and training volunteer staff for Hub atmosphere–hospitality, promotional materials, general space setup
  • Inventory, setup, and display of all retail merchandise
  • Setup, training and management of merchandise sales procedures including inventory; overseeing use of Square + iPad system for tracking CIFF merchandise; daily reconciliation
  • Acting as the Hub’s primary representative: Volunteer check-in support to the Volunteer Manager and serve as Box Office support, as necessary  
  • Overseeing any food setup; refreshing supplies and food displays; ensure coffee is always available
