An educational program dedicated to discovering and nurturing a new generation of U.S.-based filmmakers, the Camden / TFI Retreat is focused on creative, cinematic, character-driven documentary. Over the course of five Summer days on the coast of Maine, selected filmmakers will develop their artistic voice and the skills they need to complete their films and establish sustainable careers. Selected projects will revolve around the theme “American Stories,” featuring character-driven portraits of modern America, drawn from a variety of different regions, issues and perspectives. The result will be a diverse but intersecting body of films that maps the social, cultural and economic shifts happening in American life today.
