(updated 2024) Riley Hooper is a documentary film director and editor. Her forthcoming feature VESTIBULE has been supported by the Sundance Documentary Fund, and was the winner of the 2023 Ji.Hlava U.S. New Visions Forum pitch. Her short documentaries have won numerous “Best of festival” awards and screened at festivals across the U.S. and internationally — including Hot Docs, Camden, and DOC NYC. Her films have appeared on The New York Times Op Docs, Vimeo Staff Picks, Short of the Week, and The New Yorker. She is a member of the Brooklyn Filmmakers Collective. Riley Hooper is a documentary film director and editor. Her award-winning short documentaries have screened at festivals across the U.S. and internationally, and have appeared on The New York Times—as part of their Op Doc and Made with Kickstarter series—as well as Vimeo Staff Picks, Short of the Week, The New Yorker, and The Atlantic. Her documentary short FLO was awarded the Grand Jury Prize in the shorts program at the 2012 DOC NYC film festival. She is a member of the Brooklyn Filmmakers Collective, and originally moved to New York more than a decade ago to intern at Maysles Films. She is currently working on her first feature film, VESTIBULE, a first-person essay dance film that explores themes of sexual health, pleasure, and agency.
