A Night at the Garden
ABOUT
In 1939, 20,000 Americans rallied in New York’s Madison Square Garden to celebrate the rise of Nazism – an event largely forgotten from American history. Oscar-nominated A NIGHT AT THE GARDEN, made entirely from archival footage filmed that night, transports audiences to this chilling gathering and shines a light on the power of demagoguery and anti-Semitism in the United States.
Marshall Curry is an Academy Award-winning filmmaker who writes, directs and edits his work. He won the Oscar for his narrative short, THE NEIGHBORS’ WINDOW, and previously was nominated three times for his documentary films: STREET FIGHT, about Cory Booker's first run for mayor of Newark, N.J.; IF A TREE FALLS: A STORY OF THE EARTH LIBERATION FRONT, which chronicles a radical environmental group; and A NIGHT AT THE GARDEN, about an American Nazi rally that filled Madison Square Garden in 1939. His other documentaries include RACING DREAMS, which tells the story of two boys and a girl who dream of becoming NASCAR drivers, and POINT AND SHOOT, about a controversial American who left home to join the Libyan revolution. Curry’s films have won top honors at Sundance and Tribeca, played in theaters and on television around the world, and earned two Emmy nominations and two Writer’s Guild of America Award nominations. Curry is currently developing a number of scripted TV and film projects.
