Clear Cut: The Story of Philomath, Oregon
ABOUT
In 1959, Philomath High School established a scholarship fund that used timber profits to send graduates to Oregon State University. When founder Ray Clemens died, nephew Steve Lowther took charge. Unhappy with what he saw as the school's increasingly liberal bias, he threatened to take away the scholarship. Local citizens resented outside interference from newcomers, setting off a culture clash. This documentary examines the conflict as a microcosm of larger culture wars between left and right.
