El padre medico is a stirring investigation into the mysterious figure of Padre Bendoraitis, a Lithuanian priest who migrated to the Amazon Jungle and gained a cult following as a healer and a miracle worker among the native villagers. At first look a commentary on medicine and the healing power of faith, the documentary slowly unravels layer by layer, revealing dark undercurrents of post-colonialism, murder, and lust.
A freelance documentary filmmaker based in Vilnius, Lithuania. Has a degree in Media and Film studies at the University of Surrey (UK). His career started in Lithuanian National Television, where he has worked as a scriptwriter and director. His debut feature-length documentary 'El Padre Medico' was nominated for best documentary in Lithuania, also shown in festivals in Europe and USA. Apart from documentaries Vytautas is also creating music videos and video installations. His work covers topics related to migration, history and identity.
