The Guests takes us into a poorly resourced Syrian refugee camp as the inhabitants try to regain the familiar rhythms of their lives.

Arshia Shakiba studied Digital Film Production and graduated from Toronto Film School in 2003. He began his professional career as a Director and Director of Photography on a number of music videos and award-winning short films. Arshia recently directed and filmed documentaries THE GUESTS and MAESTRO OF MAZUT (in postproduction). He is now developing his first feature documentary Sleepless, made in collaboration with the National Film Board of Canada.

Zaynê Akyol went to Université du Québec à Montréal, where she obtained a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Communication, with a specialization in film. In 2016, Zaynê released her first feature documentary Gulîstan, Land of Roses, which was selected by eighty international film festivals with fifty nominations and won twelve awards, including the prestigious Doc Alliance Award given at Locarno Film Festival. Zaynê also started producing other filmmaker’s films, two of which are expected to be released in 2021. In her free time, she is a photographer whose exhibitions have been attended worldwide. Rojek, One Day is her second documentary.
