Set against the backdrop of one of the world's busiest harbors, "Tugs" is an ode to the hardest working boats on the waterways and the people who pilot them.
Jessica Edwards has a broad background in the film industry as a director, producer and publicist. Edwards’ feature-length documentary, Mavis!, about soul music legend Mavis Staples, premiered on HBO in 2016, was released in over a dozen countries and won a Peabody Award in 2017. Her award-winning short documentary Seltzer Works premiered at SxSW and was broadcast on PBS in 2010. Her other documentaries including Tugs (2011), The Landfill (2012) and Slowerblack (2017) have screened at Sundance, SxSW, Hot Docs, Sheffield Doc/Fest, IDFA and many others. Jessica was named one of “10 Documakers To Watch” by Variety Magazine.
