Points North Institute, MPBN and the Camden Opera House partner on landmark documentary event, THE VIETNAM WAR as part of CIFF Selects

 

Camden, Maine [August 1, 2017] – The Points North Institute and the Camden Opera House will continue their monthly CIFF Selects series with a special sneak preview of THE VIETNAM WAR by master documentarian, Ken Burns and Lynn Novick on August 16th at 7:00 PM at the Camden Opera House. Presented in partnership with Maine Public, the evening will highlight several clips from the ten-part, 18-hour documentary series, which is slated to air on Maine Public Television on Sunday, September 17th. The event is free and open to the general public, thanks to support from Maine Public.

THE VIETNAM WAR, tells the epic story of one of the most consequential, divisive, and controversial events in American history as it has never before been told on film. Visceral and immersive, the series explores the human dimensions of the war through revelatory testimony of nearly 80 witnesses from all sides—Americans who fought in the war and others who opposed it, as well as combatants and civilians from North and South Vietnam.

Additional CIFF Selects titles will be announced in the coming months. Screenings are held on the third Wednesday of each month, except for October. Upcoming screenings dates include August 16, September 20, October 11 and November 15. Q&As with filmmakers, either in person or via skype, will follow select screenings.
