Far, far away and completely out of sight, April, Dave, Cindy, Rick and the Godfather are creating life on their own terms. From the depths of the flood channels under Sin City, to a reclaimed military bunker in the middle of the dusty, heated Californian nowhere land to beyond the stratosphere where Mars now lives on Earth. Each have been flung into perilous circumstances. Through the hustle, pain, and laughter, we are whisked away to an unfamiliar world where we discover its inhabitants to be souls not unlike our very own.
Nicolas Steiner is a Swiss director, writer and producer. He worked as a gravedigger in his home state Valais. He was trained as a drummer in the Swiss Army's military music - the only elite unit without a weapons. He studied ethnology at the University of Zurich before studying directing at the Film Academy Badem-Württemberg. His diploma film "Above and Below" received several prestigious awards, including two LOLA's (German Film Award Best Documentary and Best Camera) and three Quartz (Swiss Film Awards). He was a Fulbright Scholar at the San Francisco Art Institute, Artist in Residency at the toy factory, Brooklyn and received the prestigous Rünzi Award. He is a member of the European and Swiss Film academy and has been invited to serve on numerous international festival juries. Steiner is working on a fiction-feature and has spent several months in Eastern Tibet and Ireland. He wrote & directed a Netflix doc series in Germany called Dig Deeper - The Disappearance of Birgit Meier.
