ALMOST THERE

ABOUT

A coming-of-(old)-age story about 83-year-old Peter Anton, an "outsider" artist living in isolated and crippling conditions whose world changes when two filmmakers discover his work and storied past. Shot over eight years, ALMOST THERE documents Anton's first major exhibition and how the controversy it generates forces him to leave his childhood home. Each layer revealed reflects on the intersections of social norms, elder care, and artistic expression.

I believe as Roger Ebert did that “...movies are like machines that generate empathy.” For me, that transformative process happens most dynamically with documentaries. I’ve devoted myself for nearly two decades across more than 20 feature films, primarily as editor, to an artistic storytelling discipline that aims for inventive storytelling, emotional resonance, social impact and mass communication. Some of my past collaborations include: "Won't You be My Neighbor?", "The Interrupters", "Finding Vivian Maier", "Hail Satan?", and "Feels Good Man". In 2021 I will be working with Ramin Bahrani on his first feature documentary and then starting my 5th feature with director Morgan Neville.
