Have you ever heard of the Republic of Kiribati?With almost no environmental footprint, this Pacific Island nation is one of the most remoteplaces on the planet, yet it is one of the first countries that must confront the main existentialdilemma of our time: imminent annihilation from sea level rise. Anote’s Ark VR takes you on ajourney to Kiribati to bear witness to one of the biggest challenges facing humanity.
Matthieu Rytz is a producer, curator, photographer and award-winning film director. A visual anthropologist by training, his passion for storytelling has led him across the globe to witness and document complex human and environmental stories. Matthieu specializes in creating multidisciplinary, multichannel projects using film, still images and virtual reality; using whatever medium best serves the story. His first documentary, Anote’s Ark, premiered at the 2018 Sundance Festival and has been licensed by PBS, CBC, Al-Jazeera, France Television, among others. As a photographer, Matthieu is represented by INSTITUTE, a reputable agency based in Los Angeles and London.
