ABOUT
Talal Derki returns to his homeland where he gains the trust of a radical Islamist family. Filmed over two years, this film provides extremely rare insight into what it means to grow up in an Islamic Caliphate.
Talal Derki, born in Damascus and based in Berlin since 2013. Studied film directing in Athens and worked as an assistant director for many feature film productions and as producer and co-producer. Oscar nominated 2019 and a member of the film academy the Oscar. Winner of the German academy awards Lola 2019. Talal Derkis short films and feature length documentaries received many awards at a variety of festivals, His both films Return to Homs and Of Fathers and Sons won the Grund Jury Award at Sundance Film Festival 2014 and 2018.
