Alejandro Pérez Serrano (Spain) has a degree in Economics and Journalism and studied documentary filmmaking at the International School of Film and Television (EICTV) and the Geneva School of Art and Design (HEAD). Pérez Serrano has worked on several radio and educational projects and his short films have been screened at international film festivals such as IDFA, Mar del Plata, Documenta Madrid, Dok.Fest Munich, IndieLisboa, FICCI,Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur among others. Terranova (2020) a medium-length film co-directed with Alejandro Alonso, won the Ammodo Tiger for Best Short Film at the Rotterdam Festival.
Filmmaker and photographer. Graduated in Documentary Filmmaking at the International School of Film and TV (EICTV) in San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba. His films have been screened at festivals and exhibitions in more than 30 countries. The Farewell (2014) had its world premiere at IDFA. His first feature documentary, The Project (2017), premiered at Visions du Réel and was awarded the FIPRESCI Prize at DOK Leipzig. Home (2019) is the result of a residency granted by the MEP (Maison Européenne de la Photographie) and the Cité International des Arts in Paris during the fall of 2018. Terranova (2020) a medium-length film co-directed with Alejandro Pérez, won the Ammodo Tiger for Best Short Film at the Rotterdam Festival. Abyssal (2021) won the Golden Dove for Best Documentary Short Film at DOK Leipzig and the John Hope Franklin Humanities Institute Award at Full Frame 2022. He is currently a Resident at the Spanish Film Academy for the development of his feature film The Star.
