THE GENIUS OF MARIAN is a visually rich, emotionally complex story that follows Pam White in the early stages of Alzheimer's disease as her son, the filmmaker, documents her struggles to retain a sense of self.
Anna Fitch is an Emmy, award-winning Director. Her work has been supported by the Sundance Institute, the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the MacArthur Foundation. Her most recent film, OCTOPUS IN MY HOUSE (2019) aired on PBS Nature and BBC Natural World. It won Best Animal Behavior Film and Best Writing at Jackson Wild. SURVIVORS, the feature documentary that she co-directed, aired on PBS/POV (2018) and was nominated for an Emmy and a Peabody Award. She co-directed the feature documentary THE GENIUS OF MARIAN, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, won the Grand Jury Award at Camden, and aired on POV (2013). Her Film BUG WORLD won an Emmy Award for Best Documentary Directing and the Wildscreen Delegates Choice Award. THE BURNING WIGS OF SEDITION won the Audience Award at SF IndieFest, Best of Festival prize at the Black Maria Film Festival, and screened at the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC.
