While researching a failed Cold War-era experiment known as the Duga,a secret Soviet antenna at Chernobyl which interrupted global radio communications during the Cold War, artist Fedor Alexandrovich discovers a dark conspiracy. Invited to address the crowds in Kiev's Revolution Square during height of recent protests, he must decide whether to risk his life by revealing the secrets he’s uncovered. Winner of the Grand Jury Prize in the World Cinema Documentary competition at this year’s Sundance Film Festival,THE RUSSIAN WOODPECKER is a fascinating nonfiction hybrid of character study and investigative journalism.
