CIFF is proud to be a partner in bringing the acclaimed doc DOWNEAST back to Maine. The film should be coming to a theatre near you in January or February, so make sure to check back for more info.

Set during an era of U.S. post-industrialization in which numerous factories have been exported, Downeast focuses on Antonio Bussone’s efforts to open a processing factory in rural Maine. The documentary is filmed entirely in the Gouldsboro region by acclaimed filmmakers, David Redmon and Ashley Sabin.

One of the most publicized stories in Maine this year. Don’t miss your chance to see what really happened to Live Lobster and the Stinson Sardine Canning Factory. The film was screened as a rough-cut at CIFF 2011, and a finished film in 2012 where it received a Special Jury Mention for Best Documentary. The film had its World Premiere at the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival in NYC.
