The lineup for the 2011 Points North Documentary Forum, a conference program that runs concurrently with the festival from September 30 – October 1, 2011 in Camden, Maine has been unveiled.  The conference connects New England-based film and media artists to a delegation of 25 funders, broadcasters and other industry representatives during a two-day program of intimate panel discussions, workshops, case studies, networking events and a public pitch session.

This year’s Points North program features delegates from HBO, A&E IndieFilms, POV, ITVS, Tribeca Film Institute, Cinereach, Chicken & Egg Pictures, LEF Foundation and a host of other production companies, distributors and film support organizations.

The central event in the conference is the Points North Pitch.  On Saturday, October 1, four New England filmmakers will publicly present their works-in-progress before a panel of 11 industry delegates and receive critical feedback. The panel will then choose a winning pitch, which comes with a $1000 cash prize from Documentary Educational Resources and a scholarship to the Maine Media Workshops.

This year’s pitch selections represents some of the best documentary film work being created in New England today: LEVIATHAN (directed by Verena Paravel and Lucien Castaing-Taylor), MOSQUITO (by Jesse Epstein and Hannah Rosenzweig), DESERT STARS (directed by Raouf Zaki) and MAYARA (directed by Mary Jane Doherty).

Other Exciting Points North Doc Forum Events:

The forum will also feature opportunities for all CIFF passholders to participate in intimate roundtable discussions with funders and distributors, as well as pitch their projects one-on-one with Richard Saiz, Senior Programming Manager at ITVS.
