Based on a true story of "invented islands," Archipelago uses drawings and speeches to antagonize what is real, dreamed or in-between. Venturing into physical, imaginary, linguistic, and political territories, this film depicts the experiences and dreams of a place and its inhabitants.

Born in 1981, in Chicoutimi, Quebec, Félix Dufour-Laperrière is a filmmaker and producer. His work, which shows a constant tension between narrative and formal exploration, maintains a close connection with the visual and contemporary arts. His films, including the documentary TRANSATLANTIQUE (IFFR 2014), have been screened in numerous major national and international festivals, museums and events, where they have won several awards. VILLE NEUVE (2018), his first animated feature, entirely drawn and painted on paper, premiered at the Venice Film Festival (Giornate degli Autori) and has since been released in theaters in Quebec, France and Japan. His animated documentary essay, ARCHIPELAGO (2021), was launched in Rotterdam, awarded at the Annecy festival and subsequently enjoyed an important international circulation.
