Angelo Madsen Minax works in film and video, sound and music, text, and media installation. His projects draw on auto-ethnography, psychodynamics, and phenomenology - they are mostly about love and death, rendered through personal and collective histories in art, punk, queer, rural, and activist cultures. His projects have shown at Ann Arbor, Berwick, EMAF, KurzFilm Hamburg, Anthology Film Archives, BFI and others. Madsen's new film NORTH BY CURRENT, a co-production of POV and Field of Vision, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and Berlinale in 2021, where is was nominated for both a Teddy Award and a Best Documentary Award. The film went on to screen at AFI, Sheffield Doc/Fest, Krakow, Melbourne, and is currently still in its festival run. The Sundance, Tribeca, LEF, and BAVC supported-project will air nationally in season 34 of PBS's POV in November, 2021.
