The city of Ordos was planned and built for approximately 2 million people in the Chinese province of inner Mongolia, yet the city remains mostly abandoned. This film takes you to this city, which is a construction of Babylonian proportions that symbolizes our unbreakable faith in money.

Born in Leipzig, East Germany, Konrad Kästner spent several years in South Africa working as researcher and assistant director for both documentaries and commercials. He graduated from Babelsberg Film University in 2011 and began his career as director for documentary films. However, he mostly explores new and artistic ways of documentary storytelling as a director and video artist at numerous German Theaters.
