Good News

ABOUT

Edgar Gatto can't leave the neighborhood he loves to hate. This short documentary is a portrait of a man full of contradictions. The film is set primarily in and around Gatto's Good News Thrift shop in Maine–a place where past and current conflicts in America around homelessness, opioid addiction, politics and poverty play out. Gatto's position in the neighborhood is as a de facto social-service where he routinely helps those less fortunate. His way of life is threatened not only by re-development of the neighborhood, but by his own desire to move somewhere that doesn’t have the same problem. Good News is the story of one man, his neighborhood, and people on the margins, who coexist before it all changes.
