In this Academy Award-nominated short, a 91-year-old Holocaust survivor donates his violin of 70 years to a local instrument drive, changing the life of a 12-year-old school girl in the nation's poorest congressional district, and unexpectedly, his own.
Kahane Cooperman is an Academy Award-nominated and Emmy Award-winning documentary filmmaker. Her most recent film is THE ANTIDOTE, a feature documentary which she directed and produced with John Hoffman. Her short documentary, JOE'S VIOLIN, was nominated for a 2017 Academy Award. Kahane has also directed multiple short docs exploring subjects such as autism and mental health. Her previous films also include COOL WATER (Sundance) and MAKING DAZED (AMC). In television and streaming, Kahane has been the showrunner for multiple series including THE NEW YORKER PRESENTS and COLD BLOODED. Kahane also spent 18 years as part of the core team at THE DAILY SHOW WITH JON STEWART where she was Co-Executive Producer from 2007-2015. For her work there, she received 11 Emmy Awards and 3 Peabody Awards. Kahane's work has been seen on HBO, PBS, Amazon, Comedy Central and A & E and in festivals around the world.
