LETTER TO SUBI
ABOUT
An estranged father longs to reconnect with his young son, but fears he never will. LETTER TO SUBI documents a moment of regret and hope in the wake of alienation, asking its subject to imagine and respond to his son's future questions.
Genevieve Carmel is from Cambridge, MA. Born in Boston to an American mother and a Haitian father, Gen was raised within a multiracial family who instilled in her an endless curiosity about the world and a deep appreciation for the liberatory possibilities of art, personal expression, and collective action. Gen works as Program Director for the LEF Foundation, which supports peer-reviewed grants, fellowships, and other resources for New England-based nonfiction filmmakers, with an interest in artistic risk-taking and experimentation. Outside of her work at LEF, Gen is a member of AgX, an artist-run film lab and collective with an open membership for Boston-area artists working across video and photochemical film.
