A young boy in Patten, Maine, works in his family's grocery store, serves mass, sings opera, and calls loons.
Julia Thompson is a 2017 Sundance Creative Producing Fellow whose work has appeared on National Geographic, Rolling Stone, Short of the Week, and No Budge. She wrote and produced the short film One Up (2017), the story of an LGBTQ teen coming of age at a small New England boarding school. The film won the best short award at the Indie-Memphis Film Festival and was selected as a Vimeo Staff pick. Kevin Bay is a film producer, director, photographer, writer, and scientist. He produced the narrative feature film Permanent Collection (2018), which premiered at SF Indie Fest in 2020. He is the author of a cookbook, “The Fisherman’s Wife,” and has published his research in scientific journals as a neuroscientist investigating dream sleep, and as a chemist investigating wastewater treatment.
Julia Thompson is a film and podcast producer, director and ceramicist. They produced and co-directed the feature length documentary This Land, Our Voices (2020) which premiered at the Maryland Film Festival, and produced the narrative feature The Adults (2023), which premiered at the Berlinale. Their short film One Up (2017) won the Best Short Film award at the Indie Memphis Film Festival and was selected as a Vimeo Staff pick. Kevin and Julia met in 2018 on the set of The Outside Story where they managed the location department.
