Alexandra Cuesta is a filmmaker who lives and works between Ecuador and the United States. Her films combine experimental film traditions along with documentary practices. Often, her images depart from the public sphere, and highlight the poetics of the common experience. Her work has screened in festivals such as the New York Film Festival, Cinema Du Réel, FIDMarseille, BFI London, Oberhausen, Courtisane, Valdivia, Viennale and also at the Anthology Film Archives, Image Forum Tokyo, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles, Palacio de Bellas Artes, among others. In 2018 she was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship for Film and Video.
