Meet Your Farmer
ABOUT
From the potato harvest in Aroostook County, to the innovations of a seventh-generation farmer Downeast, to the struggles of a dairy farmer in Central Maine, the short films in Meet Your Farmer (2010) remind viewers that farming is more than just a historical feature of Maine; farming in Maine is alive and well.
As a director, Jason Mann’s credits include several short films with Cecily Pingree. They made the feature documentary Betting the Farm, which premiered at Silverdocs in 2012 and went on to an award-winning festival run around the United States. He was the cinematographer and co-producer of Lost Souls (Animas Perdidas), a feature documentary by Monika Navarro that aired nationally on Independent Lens. As a member of Beechwood Film, he produces short documentaries and advocacy videos for companies and organizations of all sizes. He is currently at work on a feature documentary about Robert Indiana. Jason lives with his wife and kids on North Haven, an island 12 miles off the coast of Maine.
Cecily is a director, producer, and cinematographer of non-fiction films. She began her film career with Big Mouth Productions in New York City in 2004. Cecily has worked all over the world covering a wide variety of environmental, social, and humanitarian topics. She was invited to participate in the Sundance Creative Producer Labs and was the recipient of the Maine Arts Commission’s Media and Performing Arts Fellowship.
