ABOUT
After overcoming a painful childhood in France, 35-year-old Hayat has become an expert sailor in the Arctic. During winter, she lives in an isolated village in Iceland and fixes boats for the next expeditions. While she thrives in the pureness of the vast Greenlandic nature, her 26-year-old sister Leila is living a messy life in the south of France. Our story starts when a newborn girl named Inaya comes into this world and changes the sisters’ lives.
Ainara Vera (Spain, 1985). Studied cinema at the University of Navarra and obtained a masters degree in Creative Documentary Filmmaking at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. Her first short documentary, Sertres, was world premiered at Locarno Film Festival in 2014. Awarded by Navarre Young Artist award. She co-directed the film Demonstration along with other 32 students and the Russian filmmaker Victor Kossakovsky. It was screened in a multitude of festivals around the world including Hot Docs, True/False, Ambulante or DocsBarcelona among others. See you tomorrow, God Willing! is her first documentary (59mn). It was supported by the Norwegian Film Institute, Government of Navarra and Spanish Television. It was world premiered at Idfa in 2017 and selected in multitude festivals as DocsBarcelona, Dok.fest München, Doc NYC or Cartagena de Indias International Film Festival among others. Awarded by the silver apricot at Golden Apricot film festival and best documentary film at Film de femmes de Créteil. She worked for six years as First Assistant Director and editor in Victor Kossakovsky's films Varicella, Krogunfant, Aquarela (Mostra de Venise 2018) and Gunda (Berlinale 2020). En 2020, Ainara was supported by the Chicken & Eggs Fellowship for her first feature film POLARIS.
