In august 2017, I chose Camilo Najar (21) - known in his social media as Son of Sodom - to be the protagonist of my first fiction film. In the casting we talk about death, the future and his sexuality. A week later, Camilo died of a heroin overdose. Who was Son of Sodom?
Theo Montoya, Medellín, Colombia, is the founder and director of the production company Desvio Visual, which is a production house dedicated to the creation of experimental films and documentaries. For more than seven years, he has worked on audiovisual production with the youth of his city, focusing on queer, nihilistic, and social issues. His short SON OF SODOM was selected for the oficial selection Cannes Festival in 2020 and won several awards, including the Grand Prix of the Drama film festival in Greece, Best short Documentary in Interfilm Berlin, and got a special Jury’s Mention in Clermont Ferrand’s Labo Competition. Anhell69 premiered in Venice at the 37th Venice Critics’ Week (79th Venice International Film Festival), won the Grand Jurys Special Mention and awarded with the grand Prix in Festivals like DOK LEIPZIG, GIJON, ZINEBI and MARGENES.
