Known to Mainers simply as "The County", Aroostook is Maine's northernmost boundary and the largest county east of the Mississippi River. With narration by author Glenna Johnson Smith, this documentary is an aesthetic portrait of seasonal life. Mid-summer haying, potato harvest, and dogsled racing depict a year's cycle in this unique corner of America.
Chris Giamo is a documentary filmmaker and photographer based in the United States. He has a background in cultural anthropology and has conducted extensive human rights fieldwork in refugee communities and conflict zones throughout the world. Chris holds an MFA in Documentary Film & Video from Stanford University, an MA in Documentary Film & History from Syracuse University, and a BA in Anthropology from the University of Notre Dame.
