ABOUT
"Lucid Decapitation" imagines the afterlife of colonialism through the fall of a monument.
Karthik Pandian is an artist and teacher developing ceremonial technologies. He has presented his works in moving image, sculpture, performance, and sound internationally at exhibition venues such as the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Hammer, and the Palais de Tokyo, and on digital platforms such as the Criterion Channel and Triple Canopy. He is a professor of Art, Film, and Visual Studies at Harvard University and a guide certified in offering Lama Rod Owens’ Seven Homecomings practice. Supported by a 2022 Creative Capital Award and a 2024 MacDowell Fellowship, Karthik is currently at work on a feature film developed in collaboration with American Indian Movement activist Mike Forcia.
Nell Augustin (Director of Original Voices Documentary Films, NBCUniversal) is a queer, Haitian-American artist development executive and advocate for artistic independence, risk, and redefining investment. Granting over $1M in the first three years, Original Voices Documentary Films—including the Original Voices Fellowship, Shorts Pitch, and Accelerator—has proudly supported award-winning nonfiction and hybrid films such as I DIDN’T SEE YOU THERE, MIJA, HUMMINGBIRDS, BAD PRESS, UNSEEN, UNION, and HOMEGROWN. Nell was named a 2021 DOC NYC Documentary New Leader and selected for the 2022 Rockwood Documentary Leaders Fellowship supported by the Ford Foundation. She is currently producing her first feature film LUCID DECAPITATION.
