Karim Amer is an Academy Award-nominated filmmaker. He recently produced and directed the Showtime docuseries THE LINCOLN PROJECT (2022), about the controversial Republican political action committee, as well as FLIGHT/RISK (2022), an Amazon Studios documentary around Boeing’s controversial 737 Max planes, and HBO’s THE VOW (2020), a series about the self-improvement group NXIVM. His directorial debut (with Jehane Noujaim), THE GREAT HACK (2019), investigates the influence of Cambridge Analytica and Facebook on US and UK politics, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, made the Academy Award and Grierson shortlist, was BAFTA-nominated, Emmy-nominated, and won a Cinema Eye Award. He produced the Golden Globe-winning series RAMY (2019) and teamed up with Angelina Jolie to produce the Academy Award-nominated THE BREADWINNER (2017). He also produced the Emmy-winning and Oscar-nominated THE SQUARE (2013), which tells the unfolding story of Egypt's revolution through the eyes of young activists and won the Audience Award at the Sundance and Toronto film festivals, and RAFEA: SOLAR MAMA (2013). Karim is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
